foundation:

The Association was founded in 1991, on the occasion of the Frankfurt Book Fair.

aims & activities:

The aims of the association are to disseminate and to promote the sport internationally. The selling of licenses of rights on books and the production of common projects are also one of the aims. The WSPA opens a variety of possibilities to find international partners for a project. The WSPA intends to become an contact organisation for international organisations like IOC, NOC, UNICEF, IAAF, etc.

structure:

The Association with its, at the moment, 27 members is headed by the president Mr Hans J½rgen Meyer.

financing:

Each member pays an annual subscription fee and new members pay an one-off membership fee.

events:

Every year the members of the WSPA meet on the occasion of the Frankfurt Book Fair. Also common visits of Book Fairs and International Exhibitions. The WSPA is also presented on international sports conferences.

publications:

Three or four times a year, "Newsletters" are sent to the members in order to inform them about the activities of the association and other members. Moreover, each publishing company has a number of publications per year.

Our members come from the following states: Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Germany, Hungary, Norway, Sweden, Greece, Italy, Poland, Japan, Canada and the USA. Due to data protection, we are not able to send you a membership list with addresses.

contacts:

The Association is member of the ICSSPE (International Council for Sport Science and Physical Education), of the Bñrsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels (professional association of publishing companies and booksellers) as well as of the ABA (American Bookseller Association). Consultative status has been granted by the IAAF (International Amateur Athletic Federation). The Association has formal contacts to the UNICEF and the IOC.
